Voici une petite interview de Ramya, actrice dans Vaaranam Aayiram

A dream-come-true role: Ramya

Ramya Ramya200a

She's no star kid. She had no godfathers. But she had talent and determination. Today, Ramya alias Divya Spandana easily ranks among South India’s top actors. She is the queen of Kannada films and can boast of films with the best banners and the most sought-after directors. Ramya has been quietly inching her career forward. She comes across as a person who has her head well on her shoulders and is unflinchingly straightforward. In this first-ever-interview to Moviebuzz the pretty actress opens up

What are the two things, you like yourself as an actress?
I perform from my heart.
I’m hardworking.

You had an image of a glam doll in Kollywood after your debut film Kuthu?
Yes I agree. I was just 16 when I did the film. Showbiz involves a lot of competition, and it is an ongoing struggle to better yourself. When I joined the industry, I was naïve and didn't know the tricks of the trade. After Kuthu all the roles that came my way were totally glamorous, so I decided to take a break from Tamil films. It was around that time, that Kannada offers started pouring in and I shifted focus. And now I’m trying to get out of that glam image I have in Tamil.

Do you think that being glamorous is bad?
It’s not bad in any way, but right now my aim is to do good characters and to work with reputed directors. In Kannada I have done some good work like Jothe Jotheyali, Amruthadhare and Meera Madhava Raghava which got me lot of rave reviews for my performances.

Now you are back in Tamil with a bang?
Yes, actually it was Thoondil that I signed first after a break. Then I signed Gautham Menon’s Vaaranam Aayiram and Pollathavan. But it was Pollathavan that released first.

Pollathavan has put you back in circulation after its stupendous success.
Touch wood, things are looking up for me. Hopefully, better times lie ahead.Pollathavan had a good script and it was a satisfying experience and I loved my character, a nice middle class homely girl. And let me tell you that in Vaaranam Aayiram also, I play a character that I always wanted to do. In fact it is my dream-come-true role (smiles).

What is your character in the film?
I can’t reveal much. I play a 14-year-old girl ( Ramya 964104 ) and the character offers me plenty of scope to explore and experiment in terms of look, costumes and body language. It is a role that I will always be proud of. People will just love me after they see the film. I don’t want to say anything more.

But they say you are the most troublesome and difficult person to handle? Please comment?
(Laughs) They say that because I’m no-nonsense person who is confident and will call a spade a spade. I don't wear outfits that I am not comfortable with; I’m particular on my payments and the time I work. I have created no trouble for any of my producers or directors. I don’t want to be dragged into any controversy or link-up’s. I just do my work and I go back into my shell. I am basically a home bird who does not party or socialise much. I’m a very simple girl with lot of values.

Are you aiming for the number one heroine slot?
I was never that aggressive. I don’t want to do the run-of-the-mill glamour roles. I am looking for good scripts and roles that will appeal to everyone.
